SUP Pilates at Montrose Beach

Experience the best of both worlds: the strength and grace of Pilates, with the tranquility of the Lake Michigan!

Helios Center For Movement, Chicago's only Fletcher Pilates® Movement Studio and Teacher Training Center is taking their work to the lake on Stand Up Paddleboards with Kayak Chicago. These boards (also called SUPs) are the latest fitness sensation and fastest growing water-sport across the globe. Stand Up Paddling originated in Hawaii and mixes the traditional Polynesian outrigger canoe paddling with surfing. Add the principles of Fletcher Pilates® to the mix and the result is a wonderful combination of strength, stability and cardiovascular benefits.  Classes run July - September

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
DIRECTIONS - From Montrose Ave, turn RIGHT on Montrose Harbor Dr and you will see the Kayak Chicago sign on the left side in about 1 block. There is an abundance of free street parking.  Walk towards The Dock restaurant and you will find the Kayak Chicago beach shack. 

LOCKERS- There are lockers on the beach that you can pay to rent.  Or Kayak Chicago has cubby holes behind the counter and they will store your belongings at no charge while you are paddleboarding.  

BATHROOMS/FOOD- There are clean bathrooms on the beach and a cafe called The Dock.

B.R.I.D.E. Program
An intense Pilates program that will result in lost inches, strength gains and inproved posture. With the personalized attention of a small group setting, brides-to-be will transform to a new level of elegance and beauty for the big day and beyond! Classes meets 3x/week for 6 weeks - participants can choose from morning or evening sessions. 

Fletcher Barrel
Through assisted backbends and supported abdominal exercises, this class will help you develop greater spinal flexibility and abdominal control as well as improve overall body tone and ease of movement.

Fletcher Floorwork
A comprehensive movement experience incorporating the innovative Fletcher Towelwork, Percussive Breath Technique and Fletcher Floorwork developed by Pilates Master Ron Fletcher. This class emphasizes the connection between body mind breath and spirit.

Fletcher Barre
Improve your posture through this full body Fletcher workout. Stretch and tone your lower body with our Fletcher Barre program, then open your chest, stretch your back and improve overall upper body strength with Fletcher Towelwork.

Advanced Pilates Mat
This brisk paced, up-tempo mat class advances you to the next level of mastering the subtle complexities of the pilates work, enabling you to flow more gracefully from one movement to the next while increasing stamina, strength and coordination.

Helios Healthy Moms Program
The Helios Healthy Mom’s Program is designed to specifically address the needs of women contemplating pregnancy, during pregnancy and postpartum. Our staff is composed of Fletcher Pilates® Teachers who are also certified in Perinatal Fitness through Healthy Mom’s® LLC. We are dedicated to supporting our students through this wonderful season of their lives!

Exercise before, during and after pregnancy will help you look and feel great! Many moms report that the most valuable part of the program is the friendship and support of the mom’s they meet.

Bump Camp
Our pre-natal program focuses on breath, posture, pelvic floor support and supportive upper and lower body conditioning throughout your pregnancy. 

Return To Life
Our postpartum "ab-rehab" program focuses primarily on reconditioning the abdominal, pelvic floor and postural muscles, post-pregnancy. Classes are designed to help new moms re-enter the world of fitness at a safe, yet challenging pace.

Helios Running Club
Running & Pilates = The Perfect Class!  1x per week running sessions, combining distance, speed and plyometric work to improve technique and overall performance.
Fletcher Pilates Program: Post-run pilates program, combining multiplanar movement to counter the linear movement of running. Hips, hamstrings, ankle flexibility and ROM, and scapular stability will be the main focus of each session to improve upon these common trouble areas for runners.

On a Roll
A Fletcher Pilates conditioning class working with the Hard Roller. Learn to hone your balance skills while you tone your belly! This class explores many of the skills necessary for success in a Fletcher Pilates Spine corrector class, while offering new challenges to old matwork favorites!

Pilates Sculpt
Using the Fletcher Barre work, Fletcher Spine Corrector work and small weights, this toning class is sure to help you meet your "sculpting goals."

JP Calisthenics
All of the benefits of a traditional calisthenics workout, but with the added bonus of Pilates inspired form. This class will challenge your strength training with a total body workout that is designed to tone the upper body with small weights and lower body with body weight and band resistance exercises.

On the Ball
Challenge your balance, test your core strength and strengthen your whole body with the use of the stability ball. Then add Fletcher Towelwork and Magic Circle to the mix and you’ve got a class that is sure to produce results.
